A Survey on the Hearing Disturbance of School Children in Korea

Abstract

|
This report presents the result of survey on the difference rate of hearing disturbance in school children between urban aad rural area as a continual study of the subject. This survey was performed by audiometry with Rion AA-30 type for screening test and Trio AS-105 type far diagnosing on 7 , 778 of urban (Taegu City) children and 6, 876 of rural (surounding area of Taegu) for a year from September 5. 1971. to August 20. 1972.
The result obtained as a little- difference cfthe rate of hearing disturbed person in over marginal hearing loss between above two areas: - 0.54jo in urban. 0.60 o in rural. There were generally no significant difference noted according to age, sex, school classes and right and left ears (p~0.01) except pathologic findings which should couses of hearing disturbance:-the chronic disease of middle ear in rural children were occurred in about two folds is the rate than urban children. The former was 4.41 o and the later was 2.80%
